The Cayman Islands Society for Human Resources Professionals (CISHRP) continues to make major waves in the HR community locally and internationally, with its recently concluded annual HR conference, sponsored by Britcay. President of CISHRP, Elisa Brown declared this year’s iteration, hosted at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman on May 30 and 31, a massive success.
“We were really pleased with the attendance this year and believe that there are many members of the community who can gain value from this type of forum,” commented Brown. “The conference, now in its 16th year, provides HR professionals with an avenue to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, share experiences and of course, is an invaluable networking opportunity for all business professionals.”
This year, the event saw over 200 HR and business professionals in attendance and there was a large presence from both the private and the public sectors.
“The conference has been and continues to grow every year, and we encourage members of the HR community locally and from across the region to put this event in their calendar,” stated Brown. “The landscape of HR is ever-changing and this conference can go a long way in helping HR professionals to keep up with the market trends and adapt to the new landscape.” It should be noted that one does not have to be a member to attend.
Some of the speakers at the conference included Jill Dark, the Director of Leadership and Organizational Transformation at Steelcase Inc., Tim McConnell, the Managing Partner at McConnell HR Consulting Inc. based in Ontario Canada, and Luke Murray, the Head of People and an Audit Partner at KPMG, Cayman Islands.
Participants of the conference highly enjoyed the diversity of speakers with notable local speakers such as the Honourable Deputy Governor Franz Manderson, Wesley Howell of Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman, Pilar Bush of Dart Enterprises Ltd. and Shomari Scott of Health City Cayman Islands. Participants also enjoyed a variety of Marketplace Vendors which brought depth and diversity to the conference.
Next year’s conference is slated to take place May 2020 and the CISHRP team encourages all to follow their page on Facebook at facebook.com/cishrp for updates.
